So, children's shows about everyone planning a surprise party and the target becoming suspicious and ending up hating everyone until such time as it turns out, yep, surprise party on you, buddy, all claim the moral... well, let's let Twilight Sparkle tell it. "Always expect the best from your friends, and never suspect the worst. Rest assured that a good friend always has your best interests at heart."
That's never the moral I picked up, though.
The moral I always picked up was: "Surprise parties are a really bad idea."
