it's not apolitical by its very nature
Jan. 10th, 2011 12:12 pmSo, by now can we have less of the "don't retreat, reload"/crosshairs on various states/bringing guns to political rallies/"water the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants"/"we came unarmed this time"/various gun violence rhetoric in political context?
No?
Yeah, I guess that was kind of a pipe dream.
If you're in the UK, in any way disabled, or both, you will want to look up this information about the replacement of DLA with PIP. Short form: looks like it'll make it more difficult for thousands of people with a genuine need to get allowance without actually doing that much that would be an improvement. So, theatre, basically.
"But tell us some good news, Patrick! This is all pretty heavy Captain Bringdown stuff right here!" Well, I mean, you're reading this, which implies that you're alive, reasonably healthy, and with a connection to the Internet, and I don't know if you realise, but those three factors mean that you can look at "Starry Night" by Van Gogh (unless you're blind and using a screen reader, of course) and listen to the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel (unless you're deaf, of course) WHENEVER YOU LIKE. Down here it's sunny and the ocean is nearby and my cats are being rather affectionate today. You know how people only ever report the bad news? Because people only ever report things out of the ordinary. Good is the default.
...My point, I guess, is that you should be outraged and saddened by the shooting in Arizona and the fact that one can garner votes by targeting the disabled. But if you find you're still miserable when you're done doing that, you should eat a really good sandwich.
